HONDA UK RESPOND TO REPORT OUT OF U.S

Last week, Service Dealer reported that U.S trade magazine Rural Lifestyle Dealer had a run a piece covering an announcement posted to the Honda dealer Interactive Network, saying "Honda will end its lawnmower production by September 2023 and left over inventory will be offered in 2024 until it is sold out."

Honda UK have now responded to Service Dealer's request for a comment on what this news may mean for our UK dealer readers.

A spokesperson told us, "There is an article circulating that a production facility in North Carolina in the US plans to discontinue production of petrol lawn mowers from September 2023. The decision was driven by stricter environmental regulations and changing customer preferences.

"As reassurance within Europe, Honda Motor Europe produce petrol lawn mowers at our Honda France manufacturing facility and are committed to produce the entire line up."

When pushed whether this statement meant that Honda is categorically not exiting the mower market in Europe and the UK, the spokesperson reiterated, "I can confirm that within Europe, Honda Motor Europe produce petrol lawn mowers at our Honda France manufacturing facility and are committed to produce the entire line up."
