Job Title: Service Engineer - Garden Machinery 

Based at: Ashley Mowers, Castle Mill Lane, Ashley, Cheshire. WA15 0QT

Position reports to: Workshop Manager, Ashley Mowers

Job Purpose Summary:  To perform basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer owned horticultural equipment. 

Ashley Mowers is a family run business supplying, servicing and repairing garden machinery in North Cheshire/South Manchester for over 35 years.
We are a family run business; our employees are core to our success. Our small 10 strong team work closely together to provide excellent customer service and long-term maintenance of domestic and professional garden equipment.

We have an immediate requirement for an enthusiastic & self-motivated individual to develop their career as a Horticultural Service Technician, based in Ashley, Near Altrincham. We will offer on the job training on a wide range of machinery along with enrolment onto specialised Manufacturers training courses.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform basic horticultural equipment diagnostics and determine what repairs are needed
  • Perform basic horticultural equipment repairs as requested by the Workshop Manager
  • Participate in all job related training and development
  • Prepare all reports and forms in conjunction with work assignments 
  • Maintain condition of inventory, tools and equipment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of methods, material, tools and techniques used in the repair of horticultural/outdoor power equipment including 2-stroke machinery
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Good skills in operating equipment used for diagnostic purposes

  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Full driving licence (preferred)

Hours of work:

Standard is 40 hours a week and will be Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm however there may be a requirement for overtime and flexibility with hours when the business requires it.
